2021 GMC Acadia vs 2021 GMC Terrain

2021 GMC Acadia vs 2021 GMC Terrain - Clinton Twp, MI
If you’re shopping for a family SUV, GMC makes two of the best options: the 2021 Terrain and the 2021 Acadia. Here at Jim Causley Buick GMC, we’ve put together a guide to help you decide which of these great models is right for your needs in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Size and seating
If you need more space for passengers and cargo, the 2021 Acadia is your best bet. This spacious midsize SUV comes standard with three rows and six seats, with five-passenger and seven-passenger options available as well. Meanwhile, as a two-row model, the compact 2021 Terrain offers plenty of space for up to five people.
For cargo, the Acadia has the most total space with the rear rows folded down: 79 cubic feet, compared to 63.3 for the Terrain. However, the Terrain comes out ahead when all seating rows are in use, boasting 29.6 cubic feet to the Acadia’s 12.8.

Power and efficiency
If you’re looking for the best fuel economy, the Terrain comes out ahead of the Acadia. Its 170-horsepower, 1.5-liter turbo engine yields 25 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.* That’s more efficient than any of the Acadia’s powertrains.
However, the Acadia offers more power and a wider variety of engines to choose from. Options include a standard 193-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder, a 228-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo, and a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6.

Tech features
Both the Terrain and the Acadia are well-equipped with safety and infotainment tech. The Terrain carries the standard GMC Pro Safety package with Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist, and IntelliBeam® headlamps. The Acadia’s entry-level SL trim doesn’t offer this standard package, but unlike the Terrain, it does have standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. Every other Acadia trim comes with GMC Pro Safety Plus, which adds Front and Rear Park Assist to GMC Pro Safety’s features.
The Terrain and Acadia also offer similar infotainment features. However, the Acadia’s standard 8-inch touch screen is an inch wider than what the Terrain offers. The Acadia also offers wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, while the Terrain’s smartphone integration systems require a connective cable.

AT4 trim
The Terrain and Acadia offer similar trim levels — SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali — but with one big difference. The Acadia lineup also offers the uniquely designed and equipped AT4. The off-road-friendly AT4 features standard Active Torque Control AWD, all-terrain tires, black chrome detailing, and an exclusive grille. Inside, the AT4 sports a standout interior design with black cloth or leather seats and AT4 stitching and badging.
